EUGENE – Senior setter Nevena Djordjevic added another academic laurel Thursday and was accorded ESPN Magazine Academic All-District volleyball honors for the second straight season.
The Lazarevac, Serbia native was one of four players picked to the district 8 volleyball third team after she was chosen to the second team in 2008. She also claimed Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team honors as a sophomore in 2007, and was an honorable mention choice in ’08.
Djordjevic owns a 3.56 cumulative GPA in accounting and is also a mathematics minor, and is now eligible for the national volleyball academic all-america team that is voted on by collegiate sports information directors and announced later this month.
Last week on the court in Oregon’s 3-1 win over Oregon State, she took possession of the school career assists record (3,924), and her 56 assists was her second-highest tally of 2009. She currently ranks fourth nationally and second in the Pac-10 in assists per set (12.14), leads active Pac-10 players in career assists (3,924) and stands seventh in service aces (91).
