Masoli Honored, BCS, SoCal Bowling, etc,
Sunday, November 22, 4:05 p.m. PST
Oregon moved from 11th to No. 10 in all of the human polls (AP, USA Today and Harris), but jumped three spots in the BCS standings to No. 8. The BCS computers like UO more than the humans at this point, pushing the Ducks past Pittsburgh and Ohio State - two teams ranked ahead of them in the other polls.
MASOLI NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED
Jeremiah Masoli's six-touchdown performance in leading the Ducks back from a double-digit second-half deficit did not go unnoticed. The wily quarterback was named national performer of the week by the College Football Performance Awards (he also earned the organization's weekly quarterback honor) and is one of four finalists for the AT&T All-America player of the week. Duck fans can vote for Masoli by texting the word VOTE to 345345 on their wireless phones. Voting ends at 8:59 p.m. PST on Wednesday.
DICKSON, MAEHL HONORED
Ed Dickson and Jeff Maehl both received weekly honorable mention from the CFPA. Dickson was considered for tight end performer of the week while Maehl was a finalist for wide receiver performer of the week accolades.
SOCAL OR BUST
With Saturday's victory in the desert, the Ducks have clinched at least a share of the Pac-10 title for the first time since 2001. A win in the Civil War (Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. PST on ESPN) and Oregon is the outright champion and advances to the Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, Calif. With a loss, UO travels slightly farther south to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl.
INSTANT CLASSIC
The double-overtime victory has been deemed an "Instant Classic" by ESPN and will air on the network's ESPN Classic channel tonight at 6 p.m. PST.
