Fresh off the NCAA Indoor Championships, the outdoor season begins on Saturday, March 20 at the traditional Oregon Preview. The meet begins at 1 p.m.

OREGON ENTRIES

The 2010 Oregon Preview will be a chance to meet several Duck newcomers making their Hayward Field debuts, as at least 25 Oregon rookies are expected to compete. But perhaps more importantly, it will be the first chance to welcome members of Oregon’s 2010 NCAA Indoor championships women’s team and runner-up men’s team back to Hayward Field. Many of the Ducks who were in Fayetteville are entered in the Preview.

Among those are NCAA heptathlon champ Brianne Theisen (shot put, 4x100 relay), as well as Keshia Baker (800 meters, 4x100 relay), Chad Barlow (800 meters), Mattie Bridgmon (1,500 meters), Zoe Buckman (1,500 meters, 4x400 relay), Matt Butcher (100 meters, 200 meters), Melissa Gergel (pole vault), Amber Purvis (400 meters, 4x100 relay), Luke Puskedra (1,500 meters), Chloe Steinbeck (800 meters, 4x400 relay), Mandy White (400 metersm 4x100 relay), Michele Williams (800 meters, 4x100 relay) and Jamesha Youngblood (400 meter hurdles, 4x100 meter relay).

On the flip side, fans can look for scores of newcomers. Michael Maag, a Princeton graduate and fifth year senior, will make his Oregon debut in the men’s 1,500 meters. The Lake Oswego, Ore., native was 10th in the 5,000 meters at the 2009 NCAA Championships. Freshman Michael VanDoren of Albany will compete in the shot put, while Austin Ouderkirk of Newport will be in the pole vault.

For the women, look for freshmen Alexandria Davidson in the 100 and 200 meters and the 4x100 relay, Becca Friday in the 1,500 meters and 4x400 meters, Chloe Steinbeck in the 800 meters and 4x400 relay and Melanie Vertrees in the javelin, shot put and 100 meters. Also, watch for transfers Michele Williams (Adams State), who helped the Ducks win the 2010 NCAA Indoor title, in the 800 meters and 4x100 relay, as well as UCLA transfer Camilla Dencer in the 800 meters and the 4x400 relay.
