Willie West
Position: Hall of Fame Inductee
Other Position: 2007 Inductee, Football (1956-59)

A multi-sport San Diego high school standout, Willie West possessed the versatility that few of his counterparts could match, leading the Ducks in rushing (470 yards) and receiving (18 catches, 140 yards) in 1958 before returning as the team’s scoring leader (48 points) his senior season. Ranking third in the Pacific Coast Conference in rushing and second in punt returns as a junior, the two-way starter also doubled as an outstanding defensive back, earning first-team all-conference honors in 1958 before garnering all-coast accolades his final collegiate campaign. The 1959 football team’s co-captain and honorable mention All-American played a key role on Oregon’s 1957 Rose Bowl team which limited the opposition to an average of 8.8 points per game before returning the following year to pace the Ducks’ defense that allowed only 5.0 points per game.

After being drafted in the fourth round by the St. Louis Cardinals, he played nine seasons in the NFL with four different teams, including the 1962 Buffalo Bills from whom he was selected for the 1962 All-AFL team and the Pro Bowl.  Later in 1966 he played for the Miami Dolphins where he earned All-AFL honors and also was selected for the 1966 Pro Bowl.
