EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon women’s basketball team announced its team awards on Sunday at the team’s annual banquet, which honored seniors Jasmin Holliday, Nia Jackson and Amanda Johnson.
For the second consecutive season, Jackson was voted the club’s most valuable player, while Johnson was named the team’s best offensive player.
Holliday was named the team’s most improved player and was also voted the best defensive player for the 2011-12 season.
For the third consecutive year, Johnson was honored with the Harry Ritchie Scholar Athlete Award which is given to a player for athletic and scholastic ability.
Freshman Amanda Delgado was presented with Green and Gold Award for contributions and off the court.
Four Ducks, Amanda Johnson, Danielle Love, Laura Stanulis and Deanna Weaver, also received scholar-athlete honors for maintaining a gpa above a 3.0.
Oregon (14-14, 6-10), currently tied for eighth in the Pac-12 standings, will end the regular season on the road at Colorado (5:30 pm PT, Thursday) and Utah (2:00 pm PT, Saturday). The Ducks will then travel to the Pac-12 Tournament, which begins Wednesday, March 7 in Los Angeles.
