ESPN Regional Television (ERT) is a Charlotte, NC based firm, wholly owned by ESPN. ERT is one of the nation's most respected sports marketing, television syndication and production firms. The company represents several Division I conferences, including the Big 12, the Big East and the Big 10. Additionally, ERT has partnerships with six (6) other Division I Universities: the University of Kansas, the University of South Florida, the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, Texas Christian University, University of Alabama Birmingham and Iowa State.
ERT represents the University of Oregon Ducks in areas of television sales and production, radio sales and production, corporate sponsorships, arena signage, print sales, hospitality and operates the Oregon Sports Network.
In 2001, ESPN Regional Television (ERT) made the decision to strengthen the tie between the six (6) university projects and their ESPN representation by changing, at a local level the name of ESPN Regional Television to ESPN Plus.
In April 1997, the University of Oregon partnered with ESPN Regional Television to increase the exposure of the athletic department across the country and to generate new revenue streams. The partnership is an extension of the marketing and sales effort, as well as the Oregon Sports Network. Oregon became the third school in the country to enter into such an agreement with ESPN Regional Television. The Oregon staff consists of three (3) full-time employees, one (1) part-time intern in Eugene and one (1) full-time employee in Portland.
The Oregon Sports Network (OSN) was established in 1987 to promote all sports and activities within the athletic department. Since ESPN Plus has taken over the radio network it has grown to approximately twenty affiliate stations statewide. The network boasts coverage in five states including all reaches of Oregon from Astoria to Klamath Falls and Coos Bay to Ontario, large enough to carry the Ducks to 95% of Oregon's population. Where there are Oregonians, there is Oregon coverage on OSN.
The Oregon Sports Radio Network broadcasts all live regular and post season FB, MBB and WBB games, as well as a coaches' call-in show (Duck Sports Rap) throughout the Football and Basketball seasons. The anchor of the radio play-by-play for both Football and Men's Basketball is veteran announcer Jerry Allen from KUGN 590 who has been "the voice of the Ducks," since OSN's inception. During football Jerry is joined by two former ducks, quarterback Mike Jorgensen and KXL's Bobbi Debisshop. During men's basketball Jerry takes to court alone for another tremendous men's basketball season. Finally, Ray Martin fills out our radio crew by providing our women's basketball play-by-play.
Our Television network has recently grown to now incorporate an even larger portion of the state as well as reaching into both Washington and California. With our local TV affiliates, we are able to bring the Ducks into the homes of fans in Eugene-Springfield, Portland, Medford, Klamath Falls, Central Oregon (Bend and Sunriver) and surrounding areas. The Oregon Sports Network Televises two (2) FB games, eight (8) MBB games and two (2) WBB games per year, and any available post season games. Joe Giansante from KEZI, our flagship station in Eugene, anchors our telecasts, with former UO personalities Anthony Newman (football), Rob Closs (men's basketball) and Cathy Nelson (women's basketball) joining Giansante to make up our on screen television duo for all televised OSN broadcasts.
