Tuesday, July 21, 3:15 p.m. PT

Former University of Oregon All-America defensive end Nick Reed has been awarded a postgraduate scholarship by the Pac-10, commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday. The $3,000 awards go to student-athletes with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have also demonstrated a commitment to continuing education, campus and community involvement, and leadership.

Reed is one of 39 student-athletes to earn the honor, but one of only three football players to do so, along with Arizona State's Anthony Reyes and Washington's Robert Lukevich.

Three other Ducks also received the scholarship: Darcie Gardner (women's soccer), Zoe Nelson (women's track and field), and Scott Wall (men's track and field).

Reed, a seventh-round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks, is currently preparing for his rookie season in the NFL.
