And so it Begins
Wednesday, August 5, 11:00 a.m. PT

Preseason camp may not officially begin until Friday, but for all intents and purposes the 2009 football season started today. Newcomers have reported and the constant flow of coaches, players and support staff filtering through the football office in the southeast corner of the Casanova Center has returned.

The veterans formally report tomorrow, although the majority has been working out in Eugene throughout the summer. After physicals, equipment fittings, and a variety of meetings, the squad should be ready for the first of 24 practice sessions leading up to game week preparations for Boise State.

Friday's opening workout will begin at 2 p.m., following Oregon's annual media day festivities. The Ducks will continue single-session practices through Tuesday, Aug. 11, before incorporating doubles on Aug. 12, and don't have an off day until Sunday, Aug. 16 - the day after their first of two preseason scrimmages.

From this point forward, it's going to be fast and furious. A clash with the Broncos on the blue turf is only four weeks and one day away.
