Dynamic running back/return man for the Oregon football team is also a Pac-10 scorer on the 4x100 meter relay squad and one of the Ducks' top 100 meter sprinters. In one of only three Oregon student-athletes to win both a Pac-10 track and field and football championship in the same academic year. In 2010, he and teammate LaMichael James became the first to accomplish that at Oregon in 74 years; the first Duck to do the same was Bob Parke, a member of the 1933 Pacific Coast Conference football champions and the PCC track winners for the Webfoots while throwing the javelin in 1934. Barner and James again collected double championships in 2011.
2010-11: Outdoors - Wrapped track season on the 4x100 meter relay team at the NCAA West Preliminary meet. Ran the third leg on Oregon's fifth-place 4x100 meter relay team at the Pac-10 Championships. Time of 40.09 was the seventh-fastest in school history. Track debut came in the dual at UCLA where he ran the 100 meters (11.13) and on the 4x100 meter relay. Timed a season-best 10.87 in the 100 meters at the Oregon Relay. Also ran 22.29 in the 200 meters at the Oregon Relays. Ran 10.92 for the 100 at the Oregon Twilight. Indoors - Made UO indoor debut in the 60 meters at the Husky Classic. Season Bests: Outdoors - 100 Meters - 10.87, Oregon Relays, Eugene, Ore. (4/23/11); 200 Meters - 22.29 (w+2.7), Oregon Relays, Eugene, Ore. (4/22/11).
2009-10: Pac-10 scorer in the 4x100 meter relay. Outdoors - Joined the track team following the completion of football's spring drills and competed in two meets at 100 meters and on the 4x100 meter relay. Ran the third-leg on Oregon's fourth place 4x100 meter relay team at the Pac-10 Championships where Oregon won its fourth-straight league title. Time of 40.36 was the best of the season. Ran a season-best 10.71 in the preliminaries of the 100 meters at the Pac-10 Championships. Indoors - Did not compete. Football - set a UO single-season record with 1,020 yards in kickoff returns. Season Bests: Outdoors - 100 Meters - 10.71 (w+2.1), Pac-10 Championships, Berkeley, Calif. (5/15/10).
2008-09: Redshirted the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Prep: Was the state's 2007 rushing (3,124 yards) and scoring (46 touchdowns) leader for Notre Dame High School, where he lettered in football and basketball.
Personal: Majoring in journalism.
