Cal Predictions, Players of the Week
Thursday, November 25, 1 p.m. PT

Yeah, it's been nearly two weeks since the Cal game, but I needed the Duck Feed predictions to simmer for a while in hopes that they may become palatable by Thanksgiving. Taking of the lid now... and... No such luck. From a holiday food standpoint, this is a fruitcake.

To the picks:

1. Cliff Harris scores a touchdown.
Correct. Off to a flying start. Cal has a boomer at punter in Bryan Anger, a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award who averages nearly 46 yards per kick. But the thinking was that those deep boots would play right into the hands of Harris, who utilizes that extra cushion of space as well as any returner in college football. If I had to choose only one prediction to get right, this would be it.

2. Bryan Bennett makes his UO debut.
Incorrect. With the Ducks playing their first game without the services of Nate Costa, I was taking a chance that the true freshman (and new No. 2 QB) would be put in to get his feet wet in the event that he is needed down the stretch.

3. UO's leading receiver is not Jeff Maehl.
Incorrect. Of course it was Maehl. This was easily one of the top 10 worst predictions in blog history.

4. David Paulson finds the endzone.
Incorrect. Remember last season when Oregon's tight end - Ed Dickson - was wide open constantly and scored three touchdowns? Turns out the Bears did too and made sure Paulson, who didn't have a single catch, was marked in this game.

5. Kenny Rowe has a sack for the sixth straight game.
Incorrect. The Ducks didn't blitz as much against the Bears and only totaled one sack in the game by Taylor Hart..

Weekly mark: 1-4 (.200) • Season mark: 29-22 (.569)

The game has been played, the film has been studied, and the Oregon coaching staff has determined the team's top performers for Game 10. Following is a list of last week's game ball winners:

Offense: None
Defense: Zac Clark (5 tackles, forced fumble, 1 TFL) and Talmadge Jackson III (team-high 7 tackles)
Special Teams: Cliff Harris (64-yard punt return for touchdown)
Offensive Scout: Dontae Williams
Defensive Scout: Nick Musgrove
Special Teams Scout: James Scales
