Senior Amanda Johnson was nearly unstoppable in this weekend's victories over Illinois and Portland State. Johnson led Oregon in scoring in both games. She scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against the Fighting Illini. She then dropped 30 points and hauled in a career-high 19 boards in the victory over the Vikings. The performances extended her streak of double-doubles to four games dating back to last season.
Johnson's play was as timely as it was prolific, as she sank two key freethrows in the final 18 seconds of play to seal the victory over Illinois. Her scoring frenzy against Portland State helped stave off the Vikings' final comeback attempt as the Ducks held on for the win.
Through just three games of play, Johnson has led the team in scoring and rebounding with 26.7 points and 14 rebounds per contest. She also ranks third on the Ducks in total assists with 7, and has been perfect from the free throw line thus far, not missing on any of her 6 attempts. Look for Amanda and the rest of the Ducks to build momentum as they host the Global Sports Cage Classic this weekend at Matt Knight Arena.
