EUGENE, Ore.- The University of Oregon acrobatics and tumbling squad (3-0) looks to extend their five-match winning streak, dating back to last season in a quad meet with Maryland, Quinnipiac and Fairmont State on Saturday at 5 p.m. (PT).
In addition to head coach Felecia Mulkey and assistant coach Angela Ucci having Georgia ties due to their involvement with the Kennesaw State program, Saturday’s meet serves as a homecoming for two Ducks as senior Katie Browning and freshman Miranda Merkison make the trek back to The Peach State.
In the Ducks' last meet, they rolled over Baylor, 287.115-267.220 on Mar. 4 at Matthew Knight Arena. With the victory, UO remains perfect at home. The last time the Ducks were defeated in any meet was at Maryland on April 9 heading into the NCATA Championship, setting up a nice rematch between the two squads.
Against the Bears on Senior Day at MKA, Oregon was nothing short of impressive as they pulled out four perfect scores in the compulsory pyramid and toss and in two heats of the pyramid.
The Ducks set new season highs in 15 of its 20 events.
Maryland is coming off a 290.560 to 283.00 win over Quinnipiac on Mar. 9 while Fairmont State split with Baylor and Quinnipiac on Mar. 11.
UO heads into the quad meet sitting in the top three in relatively every category, if not tied for the top spot.
The recently high scores, head coach Felecia Mulkey attributes to setting higher start values and the hard work that her student-athletes are putting into focusing on the routines all in preparation to defend their national title starting Apr. 26 in Waco, Texas on the campus of Baylor University.
