Ducks Move Through Second Day of Pac-12 Championships

OJAI, Calif. - The University of Oregon women's tennis team completed the second day of the 2012 Pac-12 Championships in conjunction with the 122nd Annual Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament moving along two of their three doubles teams.

For the Ducks, Sofia Hager and Patricia Skowronski defeated Stanford's Stacey Tan and Ellen Tsay, 8-5.  The Oregon duo will next face USC's third seeded Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria in the semifinals on Saturday (Apr. 28) at 9 a.m.   Also advancing for Oregon was junior Julia Metzger and senior Trudie du Toit.   The Oregon combo took down Stanford's fourth-seeded Natalie Dillon and Veronica Li, 8-6, in the Invitational Draw.  Metzger and du Toit will next take on Arizona State's Leighann Sahagun and Nicole Smith on Saturday (Apr. 28) at 8 a.m.

Rounding out the Oregon doubles teams were Lana Buttner and Lena Macomson along with Pascale Neubert and Rabea Stueckemann.  Hailey Johnson and Sarah Landsman of Arizona defeated Buttner and Macomson, 8-0, in the first round while Elizaveta Luzina and Luda Vasilieva of Washington State took down Oregon's Neubert and Stueckemann, 8-2. 

In singles play, the Ducks did not fare as well with Stanford's Mallory Burdette defeating Skowronski, 6-0, 6-4, USC's Gabi Desimone defeating Hager 6-3, 6-3 and Arizona State's Leighann Sahagun taking down Buttner, 6-3, 6-4.

The Ducks doubles will continue into the third day of the 20120 Pac-12 Championships starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday (Apr. 28). Follow the Ducks as they look to compete for the Championship and Invitational Draw titles at for the latest results and recaps.
