EUGENE - The No. 7 University of Oregon men's golf team climbed three places in the Ann Arbor NCAA Regional Friday, thanks to the second-lowest round of the tourney on the UM Golf Course.

Sporting a hat trick of under-par, second-round scores, the Ducks shot a 14-under second-round team total of 274 - their 19th of par or better among 36 overall on the campaign.

With one round remaining Saturday, No. 7 UO (second, 288-274-562) ended Friday one stroke behind No. 6 USC (first, 289-272-561) after the Trojans entered the round in sixth place.

Senior Daniel Miernicki (third-tie, 71-65-136) led UO for the second straight round (and five of the last six), and to pull within one stroke shy of the overall lead Friday.

The Santee, Calif., native posted eight birdies, eight par scores and two bogeys to stake his 23rd round of par or better this season and school record 88th career-wise.

Miernicki also led the squad for the 12th time this season and 70th occasion in his career.

Freshman Jonathan Woo (seventh-tie, 72-66-138), carded a five-under score Friday - one better than his previous career low - and enjoyed his fifth round of par or better among his 18 this spring. The Singapore native carded an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole, and claimed five birdies, 10 pars and two bogeys.

Also on the par 71, 6,723-yard course, senior Eugene Wong (16th-tie, 72-69-141) turned in his 23rd round of par or better this season and 81st of his career - and the latter ranks second-most for the Ducks.

Senior Andrew Vijarro (38th-tie, 73-74-147) rounded out the Ducks' scoring, and UO's other entrant was redshirt junior Robbie Ziegler (46th-tie, 73-76-149).

Overall in the individual standings, TCU's Julien Brun (67-68-135) was tied for the overall lead with N.C. State's Albin Choi (69-66-135).

Looking ahead to Saturday's final round action, the Ducks' first tee time is at 5:40 a.m. Pacific Time (8:40 a.m. local Eastern Time).

The top five teams after Saturday' finale will advance to the NCAA Championships at the Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, May 29-June 3.
