Walker's Pace: Delaney Brings Home Relay Gold
Monday, July 16, 2012
Arthur Delaney won the gold medal in the men's 4x100 meter relay at the IAAF World Junior Track & Field Championships in Barcelona, Spain, over the weekend.
The freshman from Gresham, Ore., took the third leg of the American team that won with the second-fastest time in world-junior history, 38.67.
"I knew we just had to get the baton around and that we would have a fast time," said Delaney. "I felt good on the curve, so good that I want to go back out there. This medal and experience has got to be one of the biggest of my life to this point."
The quartet of Tyreek Hill, Aldrich Bailey, Delaney and Aaron Ernest helped Team USA claim five of the last six World Junior crowns in the event.
Also over the weekend, junior Elijah Greer placed seventh in the 800 Meters at the Diamond League meet in London in 1:46.14 .
