Walker's Pace: Baker, Team USA Blaze to 4x400 Final

Keshia Baker and led off Team USA's 4x400 meter relay as that squad easily advanced through the semifinals Friday at the London Olympics.
Baker reportedly ran a :50 opening leg as she and her American teammates, Francena McCorory, Diamond Dixon and DeeDee Trotter, claimed heat two in 3:22.09 to advance to Saturday's final.
There, the Americans will see heat one winner Jamaica (3:25.13), as well as Russia, runner-up to Team USA on Friday in 3:23.11 and crowd favorite Great Britain (3:25.05 in the prelims).
"This is great," said Baker. "It was my first time running the first leg. My coach and teammates gave me comfort, gave me great support and that gave me great confidence. The job was done. I felt like we did our job tonight.".
Baker anchored Oregon's 4x400 meter relay team that edged Texas A&M for the 2010 NCAA Championship in that event.
In addition to the women's 4x400 on Saturday, Oregon alum Galen Rupp will close out his Olympic games in the finals of the 5,000 meters."
