EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Oregon women’s basketball team will start off its 2012-13 campaign on a foreign tour of Spain. The Ducks will play a total of four games facing Spanish college and professional teams.

Oregon will spend 10 days in Spain, beginning with a four-day stay in Madrid from Friday, Aug. 24 through Monday, Aug. 27. The trip will continue on to Valencia where the program will spend two days, before heading over to Barcelona from Aug. 30 through Sept. 3.

UO returns 10 letterwinners and two starters from last year’s squad which went 15-16 overall and 7-11 in conference play. The 2012-13 Ducks will be without the services of returning starter Ariel Thomas, a junior who is out indefinitely with an injury. Also sidelined by injury for the upcoming trip are junior Deanna Weaver and redshirt freshman Janitah Iamaleava.

Coverage of the trip will be available on goducks.com, the UO women’s basketball Twitter account (@OregonWBB) and on Facebook (facebook.com/oregonwbb).
