EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon women’s golf team got off to a slow start in the first day of the Topy Cup in Tanagura, Japan. The Ducks currently sit in fifth place after shooting 10-over 298 on the day.

“Everyone had glimpses of great play today, and that's what makes tomorrow exciting,” Oregon Head Coach Ria Scott said. “We need to manage our games a little bit better off the tee and make some putts in order to gain some ground tomorrow.”

Sophomore Cassy Isagawa led the pack for Oregon and finished the first day tied in fourth place overall after shooting one-under 71. Sophomore Monica Petchakan and junior Raphaela Dyer sit in the middle of the group after hitting four-over 75.

“Cassy had a great comeback today and Monica played 17 very solid holes,” Scott said. “We are all looking forward to tomorrow.

Rounding out the scorecard for the Ducks was the newest member of the squad, Caroline Inglis. The freshman shot six-under 77 in her first tournament as a collegian. Sophomore Cali Hipp also competed for the Ducks, but her score was dropped from the team posting for day one after shooting eight-over 80.
