SKILLMAN, N.J.- With the 2012-13 college tennis season just getting underway for most teams around the country, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced the Campbell/ITA Division I Women's Preseason Rankings, along with the selections for the 2012 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.
In doubles, Oregon's Patricia Skowronski and Sofia Hager are ranked as the number 23 team in the nation after impressive victories over the number one and four teams in the nation last season. The ranking also makes them the fourth highest ranked team in the region behind two teams from California and one from Stanford.
The Ducks' Julia Metzger is Oregon's only singles player ranked in the top 100 as she came in at number 92 in the rankings.
Skowronski and Metzger will compete in the pre-qualifying round for the ITA All-American tournament in Los Angeles, Calif., while Hagar will team with Skowronski to compete in the qualifying draw as only the top 19 teams receive a direct entry to the main draw.
For the 28th year, the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, CA, will serve as the host site for the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships. The national event is set to being on Saturday, Sept. 29 with pre-qualifying singles and doubles matches, which will once again be hosted by UCLA. Main draw action is slated for Thursday, Oct. 4-Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Riviera Tennis Club.
