EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon’s Oct. 6 football game vs. the University of Washington has been chosen to start at 7:30 p.m. and televised by ESPN as part of the Pac-12 Conference’s network television agreement.

The late start will mark the Ducks’ third night game among its first five encounters in Autzen Stadium this year – a fact that has not gone unnoticed by the school’s Director of Athletics Rob Mullens.

“We have heard from concerned fans, particularly those who travel to Eugene, about television driving an increased number of night games at Autzen Stadium,” Mullens said. “While the Pac-12 has outstanding television partners providing desired exposure for our programs, we are sympathetic to the hardship night games place on fans who travel from out of the area. Prior to the Washington announcement, we were in communication with ESPN and the Pac-12, lobbying vigorously for an earlier kickoff, given it will be our third consecutive 7:30 p.m. start. This television window for ESPN and college football fans has one of the strongest audiences and incredible national exposure for our program and through our television agreements with the Pac-12, ESPN does have this contractual right to select this time slot.

“With success comes increased national interest and television exposure, which includes night games instead of day football,” Mullens added. “The Oregon brand drives television ratings, as last season three of the top ten regular-season broadcasts in college football involved us, thanks to a nationwide following. Ideally, we would choose to play our games earlier in the day so our great fans all over the region could travel easily. With this in mind, we will continue to advocate on your behalf regarding game times.”

This year will mark the fourth time in the last 10 meetings that the interstate rivalry will have been played at night.

Standing room-only tickets for the game have been placed on sale to go along with a limited number of remaining reserved seats.

The cost of standing room tickets is $49 each while reserved seats are $93, with all tickets on sale at the Moshofsky Center ticket office, the Matthew Knight Arena ticket office, on-line at www.goducks.com/tickets, and by calling 541-346-4461 (or 1-800-WEBFOOT).
