Clay Named PAC-12 Defensive Player of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon senior linebacker Michael Clay has been named the Pac-12 Conference’s defensive player of the week for his role in the Ducks’ 49-0 win over Arizona Saturday night in Autzen Stadium.

Clay equaled his single-game best of 13 tackles, including 10 unassisted stops, while helping limit the Wildcats to 332 yards of total offense and 243 passing yards. Arizona entered the game ranked fourth in the country in total offense (604.7 avg.) and seventh in passing yards (357.7 avg.).

In addition to his total number of tackles, the San Jose, Calif., standout also was credited with a pair of tackles for loss, one quarterback sack and one forced fumble.

Clay first posted a career-high 13 tackles in the 2012 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin.

It marks the first conference player-of-the-week honor for the second-year starter who leads the team in tackles with 25 stops. Clay ranked second in the Pac-12 in tackles per game a year ago (8.9 avg.).
