CLEVELAND, Ohio - Oregon sophomore cornerback Ifo Ekpre-Olomu has been named the Jim Thorpe Defensive Back of the Week by the Jim Thorpe Association, which also sponsors the post-season award to college football's best defensive back.

The Chino Hills, Calif., standout returned his second of two interceptions on the night for a 54-yard touchdown in the Ducks' 49-0 win over Arizona last Saturday. In addition to his fourth-quarter score, Ekpre-Olomu also intercepted a first-quarter pass that prevented the Wildcats from scoring from inside the 20-yard line as the Oregon defense stymied Arizona six times inside the red zone.

He also was credited with one tackle and broke up three passes as Ekpre-Olomu was part of a defensive effort that held Arizona to just 332 total yards and zero points which was far off the Wildcats’ 46 point and 605 yard averages coming into the contest.

The shutout marked the program's first in conference play since holding Stanford scoreless in 2003.
