WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – After helping the University of Oregon volleyball team (25-4, 16-4) stake a best-ever runner-up conference finish, senior outside hitter Katherine Fischer received her first Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award on Monday.

Last Friday, the Ducks staked their 12th win in the last 14 Civil War matches with their 3-0 decision at Oregon State. Three days before in Eugene, UO’s 3-0 victory over No. 7 UCLA was its sixth in the series in as many years, compared with the four-time champions’ prior 45-1 advantage in the rivalry dating back to 1976.

Against the Beavers, the Los Altos, Calif., native Fischer posted a career-high hitting mark (.652) that was Oregon’s second-best of 2012. Her ninth +.300 mark of the slate led the team in hitting for the fourth time this year and 13th time career-wise.

Her 15 kills at Oregon State was her three-set season best and second-best overall, and she led the team for the third time on the campaign and 19th time career-wise. It was the second contest that she was error-free on a +20-hitting attempt night after she also pulled the feat at Arizona in October (9K-0E-20A).

She also added two aces to raise her career tally to 112 – eighth-best all-time for the Ducks and tops among active Pac-12 players. She also ranks top 10 all-time for UO in career points (fifth, 1,370) and attempts (eighth, 3,313).

Against UCLA, she ranked second in kills (9) and added seven digs, two assists and one block.

Among the team’s other five Pac-12 Offensive POW laurels this fall, redshirt senior outside hitter Alaina Bergsma upped her school record tally to six with three honors on August 27, October 15 and November 19. Similar nods went to junior setter Lauren Plum (Sept. 24) and sophomore outside Liz Brenner (Nov. 12).

Overall for the Ducks, Monday’s weekly honor was the 19th in head coach Jim Moore’s eight years at the helm, and 28th all-time for Oregon since 1986.

A complete list of all-time Duck honorees follows below, and more information on the award is available at the website.

Team-wise last weekend, UO's second-place league effort improved upon its former-best fourth-place finishes in 2008, 1989, '87 and '86. Friday's outcome also tied the team's top overall win total (25) since the start of the conference in 1986, and second-best since the beginning of NCAA play in 1981 (behind its 27-12 mark in 1984).

This week, the Ducks received a best-ever #5 seed in the 64-team NCAA Tournament, and will host postseason home matches for the first time since 1986.

In Friday’s NCAA First Round, UO faces Northern Colorado at 8 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena, while Dayton and Pepperdine will play immediately before at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, the two, first-round winners will play in the NCAA Second Round at 8 p.m.

All-session packages are on sale at for $18 (reserved tickets), $10 (adult G.A.), $6 (students and senior citizens) and $4 for children 3-12 years old (and infants two and under are free with a paying adult).
