Head Coach Cori Close

On the game...

"I thought we came out in the first half with really good focus and energy. We knew that coming into Pac-12 conference play that we would need to step it up. Our energy and focus waned on defense in the second half. I think we played one half of the game really well."

Head Coach Paul Westhead

On UCLA's offensive rebounds...

"Giving up too many offensive rebounds has been a problem and we'll continue to work on that. We're going to get after it tomorrow and address this rebounding issue. Our kids have always had good resolves so they'll get after it."

"When the shot goes up, they seem to lose focus and attentiveness. It's not a lack of effort, but it needs to be managed."

On turnovers...

"If we became a better running team, we'd probably cut our turnovers in half. A lot of times, they are running down the court and the ball just comes at them and they think 'Woah, where did that come from?' Maybe we should encourage selfish play."

On Jillian Alleyne...

"Every week she comes up with something new that surprises me. Tonight she was doing spin moves. She's an interesting, talented young woman, who will continue to get better. But she's in a learning curve and will continue to move around."

Junior guard Ariel Thomas

On the difference between the first and second half efforts...

"I think we just came out with more intensity. We came out more physical, but our offensive rebounding and turnovers killed us."

On how to prevent slow starts...

"I think the solution is to push the ball and push the fast break. It's better if we can create numbers where we don't have to play in the back court."

Freshman forward Jillian Alleyne

On how to improve in future games...

"We just need to be poised. We need to play our game. By this time in the season we should all have experience and be able to play our game. That's what we need to do- just run the system."
