Each week O Heroes sits down with one of our student-athletes to get to know more about them on and off the court. This week’s feature is on Lena Macomson, a senior on the Oregon Women’s Tennis team. A native to Olympia, WA Macomson is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in General Social Science with a concentration in Applied Economics and Business.
Macomson, a transfer to the University of Oregon, has played an active role in serving the Eugene/ Springfield community. Her enthusiasm for giving back parallels her positive attitude towards being a mentor to kids.
As Executive Director on Oregon's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Macomson is a stand-out leader. Within the Lane County community, she has involved herself in numerous O Heroes activities: bowling with Special Olympics, tree planting for Friends with Trees, and volunteering at MLK Day On! Service Day with Duck Corps. Macomson’s leadership and commitment to Lane County is an inspiration to fellow student-athletes.
Post-graduation, Macomson will stay at Oregon to pursue her MBA in the Warsaw Sports Marketing program. In conjunction with her studies, she hopes to continue her philanthropic work as a weekly volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of Emerald Valley.
