EUGENE, Ore.—The three-time national champion University of Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team is proud to announce the signing of two new Ducks for next year’s team, head coach Felecia Mulkey announced Wednesday.
A 5’3” base from Vancouver, Wash., Kaile Michaud joins the Ducks after being a member of the Thunder Elite All-Star Cheerleading team. Michaud’s resume includes two NCA National Titles. “You will see Kaile at either the base or top position,” said Mulkey. “I am pretty sure she is going to be able to do whatever we ask her to do, and her persistence is what impressed us. She is a great student and will excel on and off the mat.”
An NCA All-American in 2012, Hannah Lichtenthaler will give UO some added versatility as she doubles as a base and a back. Lichtenthaler has been competing in all-star cheerleading for ten years and has been a member of Oregon Dream Teams for six years. Her impressive resume also includes two state titles with her high school team and an Acro group state title in 2010. In 2012, she was top five in the all-state individual competition. “At this point she is our only Oregon signee. Her versatility at the base and back position will make her an asset and her clean tumbling technique has a lot of potential. Her athletic skills speak for themselves, but her attitude, work ethic and positive mindset sealed the deal for us. She is going to fit right into our program and the Oregon philosophy,” said Mulkey.
Michaud and Lichtenthaler will join Oregon’s seven fall signees Krista Phillips, Jalen Kirkland, Blaire Wilson, Jordyn Fox, Rachel Block, Taylr Keating and Taylor Turner on campus in the fall of 2013.
The Ducks wrapped up the 2013 season in winning fashion on Friday, April 26th in Quinnipiac, Conn., as they won their third straight NCATA National Championship.
