EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon sand volleyball team will compete in 10 matches during its inaugural season as the Ducks kick off their season on the East Coast, March 21, head coach Stacy Metro announced, Friday.
Oregon will travel to Columbia, S.C., where they open the season against South Carolina (March 21). The Ducks will follow the season opener with doubleheaders against LSU/College of Charleston (March 22) and Louisiana-Monroe/Alabama-Birmingham (March 23).
The Ducks will continue the stretch of matches in California where they play CSU Bakersfield and Hawaii Pacific, March 26 in Bakersfield, Calif. The road trip will end with a drive south for what could be the toughest test of the season against USC (March 27) which finished sixth in the final rankings last season.
“We’re really excited to start our first year of the sand program,” Metro said. “We’re playing some established sand teams which will be a tough test for our players, but will provide good experience to build a solid foundation as we progress through the season and in the long term.”
The match against USC will be aired on the Pac-12 Networks.
The season will wrap up much closer to home with a doubleheader against Boise State and Washington in neutral-site matches in Portland, Ore.
