George Dames
Position: Hall of Fame Inductee
Other Position: 2000 Inductee, Football (1966-68)

One of the smallest players ever to play middle guard for the Ducks, Dames possessed one of the biggest hearts. The
three-year letterman from 1966 through 1968 absolutely dominated opposing defenses his senior year. Chosen Oregon's
lineman-of-the-game three times his final year, teams facing the Ducks that season awarded George more votes for their All-
Opponents selections than any other player.

The three-year starter was the recipient of Oregon's Clarke Trophy as its most improved player his first varsity season,
and his teammates voted him their most valuable player with the Hoffman Award in 1968.
He was a first-team All-Coast and Pacific-8 Conference all-league honoree his final year and was chosen to play in the Hula
Bowl before briefly playing professionally with the Portland Storm.
