Spring Ahead, Reed to Shrine
Monday, January 12, 10:00 a.m. PT

The Ducks resumed classes last week and 2009 is now in full swing for them from an academic standpoint. While the current players hit the books, the coaches have been busy on the recruiting trail, solidifying commitments from future student-athletes. Signing Day is Feb. 4.

But for those who can't wait to see and hear the clashing of pads, the start of spring practice is right around the corner, beginning March 30. The Ducks will conclude formal drills with the annual Spring Game on May 2 at Autzen Stadium. Per NCAA rules, the Ducks can hold 15 practices, including the final scrimmage, over a period of 34 days.

REED TO THE SHRINE

Nick Reed has been added to the West roster for the East-West Shrine Game in Houston on Saturday. Reed joins fellow departing defensive lineman Ra'Shon Harris and offensive tackle Fenuki Tupou on the squad, becoming the 56th UO player selected for the longest running postseason collegiate bowl game. The game will be televised at 1 p.m. PT on ESPN2. Reed will be wearing No. 49, Tupou No. 57 and Harris No. 95.

Reed is still waiting for word of an invitation to the 2008 Scouting Combine. The All-America and Pac-10 sacks leader is currently on the waiting list for the prestigious six-day job fair in Indianapolis.
