EUGENE, Ore. – Senior guard Tajuan Porter scored a team-high 23 points as the University of Oregon men's basketball team defeated Colorado State 68-53 to win the BTI Tip-Off Tournament Sunday in Eugene, Ore. Porter was named MVP after scoring a combined 56 points in three tournament games.

Porter hit 8-of-17 from the field, 5-of-10 on 3-pointers, while adding three assists and a team-best three steals.

Three other Ducks also scored in double figures, with sophomore guard Teondre Williams and junior guard LeKendric Longmire with 11 points apiece. Senior forward Joevan Catron added 10 points to go with nine rebounds in the win. Catron did most of his scoring from the free throw line where he hit 8-of-10.

Joining Catron with a team-best nine rebounds was freshman forward Jamil Wilson. Four of Wilson’s boards were of the offensive variety. Williams, who along with Porter was named to the BTI Tip-Off All-Tournament team, led the Ducks with four assists.

Oregon shot 43.4 percent from the field (23-of-53) and 35 percent on 3-pointers (7-of-20). The Ducks made 71.4 percent of their free throw attempts (15-of-21).

CSU led only once in the game, a 3-2 advantage with 18:08 in the first half. The Ducks took the lead for good on their next made basket, building the advantage up to as many as 13 points (29-16) with 4:26 left in the half.

The Ducks took a 36-27 lead in to halftime, led by Porter who scored 11 first-half points. Oregon had 17 points off 10 CSU turnovers during the first half.

Oregon’s largest lead in the second half was 18 points with a score of 49-31 with 14:41 left in the game. The Rams got to within nine points at 52-43 with just under 11 minutes remaining, but the Ducks would hold on for the 68-55 result.

The Rams were paced by Andy Ogide's 15 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Dorian Green had 12 points as the only other Ram to score in double-figures. Both Ogide and Green were selected to the all-tournament team.

The Ducks limited CSU to 36.2 percent shooting (21-of-58) and 29.4 percent on 3-pointers (5-of-17). CSU made 8-of-12 free throws for 66.7 percent.

Oregon (3-0) returns to action Saturday, Nov. 21 with a road game against Portland. Tip-time is set for 7 p.m. from the Chiles Center in Portland.
