EUGENE, Ore.  - Oregon’s first-half performance made all the difference as the Ducks handed Boise State its first loss of the season, 88-61, on Friday night at McArthur Court.

The Ducks (7-1), now off to their best start in three years, recorded season highs with 14 steals and 26 forced turnovers as the Broncos (7-1) fell behind early.

Oregon was led once again by sophomore Amanda Johnson, who scored a game-high 20 points and fell just one rebound short of her sixth double-double of the season with nine boards.

Fellow sophomore Jasmin Holliday led the Ducks on the boards with a game and career-high 13 rebounds, and posted the first double-double of her career with 12 points. Also scoring in double figures for Oregon was Taylor Lilley with 15, and Micaela Cocks added 11.

Johnson and Lilley knocked down four three-pointers apiece, while Cocks, Lilley and Johnson spread the ball around with four assists apiece.

Oregon’s bench outscored Boise State 26-17, while the Ducks capitalized on the Broncos’ 26 turnovers, scoring 31 points off those miscues.

Boise State outscored Oregon 37-35 in the second half, as the Ducks went cold shooting just 29.8 percent from the floor. The Broncos got to 15 offensive rebounds which resulted in 10 second-chance points.

Jessica Van Hoogen and Tasha Harris led Boise State with 15 points apiece.

In the first half Oregon’s fullcourt press reaped benefits early as Boise State committed 18 turnovers, and the Ducks headed into the locker room leading 53-24.

Ahead 11-7 with 15:07 remaining in the first half, the Ducks held the Broncos without a field goal until the 11:30 mark when Van Hoogen knocked down a jumper. By that time, Oregon had mounted a 23-10 lead that continued to climb.

The Ducks closed the half scoring 16 points in the final 5:15 as Lilley, Tatianna Thomas and Johnson combined to knock down four three-pointers in a two-minute span.

Lilley and Johnson each had 12 to lead the Ducks at the break, as Oregon shot 50.0 percent (18-of-36) from the floor.

Notes:  Micaela Cocks first half three-pointer, extended her streak of games with a trey to 24…Cocks is the only UO player to reach double figures in all eight games this season…this is the seventh time Oregon has scored at least 86 points this season.
