Rose Bowl Week, Day 6 Wrap
Friday, January 1, 12:00 a.m. PST
Thursday's walkthrough marked the last official practice of the 2009 season and final team workout in the careers of Oregon's senior class. The Ducks completed their weeklong stint at the Home Depot Center at approximately 11:30 a.m. before heading to Pasadena for a team photo at the Rose Bowl.
At the stadium, while getting ready for the granddaddy of all photo ops, the players were treated to a brief talk and Q&A session with Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the grand marshall of this year's Tournament of Roses parade. Captain Sullenberger was the pilot of US Airways Flight 1549, which he safely landed in New York's Hudson River after losing all power to both engines shortly after takeoff. The whole room was in awe of his story and would still be in there asking him questions if they didn't have a game to play today.
It was an especially busy day for Chip Kelly, who had to attend an 8 a.m. press conference downtown, put the team through its final paces in Carson at 10:15 and speak at the official kickoff luncheon in Pasadena at 1 p.m. In between was a live interview on ESPN Radio with Colin Cowherd (with a back story too longwinded for this post) and a wild ride from the HDC to the Rose Bowl that included an unexpected stop to ask for directions.
In case you didn't have a chance to hear the Cowherd interview, Chip let the cat out of the bag with regard to Friday's uniforms. The Ducks will be wearing a new stealth ensemble, which renders the skill players invisible. However, viewers will still be able to see the linemen.
Enough babbling on my part. Happy New Year! Enjoy the pics...
The Ducks feel out the freshly cropped and painted natural grass surface at the Rose Bowl.
Mellow yellow for now. At 2:10 p.m. today? Not so much.
Jonathan Stewart never played in a Rose Bowl, but if he comes to the game as a fan, he should sit here.
Consider this blog your virtual Rose Bowl parade if it were held in the stadium with no floats.
Can you imagine WASHINGTON being painted in an Autzen endzone? UCLA must really hate Rose Bowl week when they aren't playing in the game.
What will Lee Corso (not pictured) wear this morning?
The main reason for our trip to Pasadena on Thursday.
Possibly Oregon's most overlooked and under appreciated unit, the D-Line.
Oregon usos hail from the islands to the Bay and the North Pole with places in between.
The men responsible for some great pics all season, Pat Shields (l) and Eric Evans.

A memorable day to cap a memorable year.
