Greetings from Eugene as we start up for 2010.
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and the New Year is treating you well.
We have hit the ground running – literally – since we returned to campus.
Weights at 6:45 a.m. (M/W/F) and conditioning at 6:45 a.m. (T/Th) greeted us last week as we started training for our first days back in session. Practice is still in the “individual” stage with 4-on-1’s as we inch closer to practice beginning on February 1.
Classes began last Monday, and the Ducks have been getting accustomed to our new academic schedules.
A brand new piece to the puzzle added this year is the John E. Jaqua Academic Center. The University of Oregon is famous for its incredible athletic facilities, and it is encouraging to see the focus shifting to include academics. Sharing a commitment to success on the field, as well as academic success off the field, sets the University of Oregon in a class all of its own. We were fortunate enough to get a tour of the building last week (see video & photos below).
The center is an incredible facility that is a factor in the success of student-athletes in the classroom. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but also functional and technologically innovative. The Jaqua Center will prove to be a wonderful environment for us to study as well as interact with other students and student-athletes.
Hope you enjoy the video and photos , and check back next week, as we’ll have Round 2 of “Clubhouse Questions”.
