LOS ANGELES – Two streaks and one record were broken on Saturday afternoon as the Ducks outran USC to an 85-77 victory at the Galen Center.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Ducks, who are now 13-8 on the year and end the first half of conference play 4-5 in the Pac-10.

The Trojans five-game winning streak was snapped as USC fell to 13-7 on the season and moved into a two-way tie with UCLA for second place in the Pac-10 standings with a mark of 7-2. The Ducks’ 4-5 record in the Pac-10 moves UO into a two-way tie for sixth place in the standings with Washington.

Back close to her hometown of Newhall, Calif., Lilley scored a game and career high 36 points, while also setting a new Oregon single-game record burying nine three-pointers to lead the Ducks to victory. The previous record of eight three-pointers in a single game was held by Chelsea Wagner, Jessica Schutt and Lilley as well.

Oregon earned its first win over the Trojans at the Galen Center since the facility opened during the 2006-07 season - the freshman year of four-year seniors Micaela Cocks and Lilley. Oregon had last beat the Trojans in Los Angles on Feb. 27, 2003.

Lilley was 12-of-22 from the floor, and her nine three-pointers tied Stanford’s Lindsey Yamasaki’s  nine-year -old record for most three-pointers in a Pac-10 Conference game. Yamasaki drained nine treys vs. Washington back on Feb. 24, 2001.

Cocks also contributed in helping break the Galen-winless streak scoring 24 points on a 9-of-11 performance from the free-throw line to go along with three assists.

Junior Victoria Kenyon added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Ducks, while Nia Jackson led Oregon with four assists before fouling out with Oregon ahead 76-61 and 7:04 remaining. Amanda Johnson added eight rebounds for Oregon.

The first half had 13 lead changes, but that wasn’t the case in the second as the Ducks refused to relinquish the 38-35 advantage they started the second half with.

Oregon led 44-42 with 17:07 remaining, but the Ducks quickly pieced together a 14-6 run to extend its lead to double-digits, 58-48, with 13:53 to go after an inside basket from Nicole Canepa and a coast-to-coast layup-and-one from Jackson, who converted the three-point play. Lilley then hit her seventh try to put Oregon up 61-48.

The Ducks scoring output was part of a 24-12 run that had Oregon ahead 68-54 with 10:59 remaining.

USC closed to within 70-61 with 8:36 to play, but Kenyon drained a timely three-pointer at the top of the arc to bring Oregon’s advantage back to double digits.

USC was led by Ashley Corral’s 22 points and four three-pointers. Kari LaPlante put together a double-double with 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, while sophomore Briana Gilbreath added 18 points, 12 rebounds and a game-high five assists.

Oregon held a slim 38-35 advantage at the half despite having just four players on the scoreboard. It was Lilley who produced the majority of the Ducks offensive output with a half-high 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting including knocking down six three-pointers in the first 20 minutes.

Cocks was the other Oregon player in double figures with 13 points, while Johnson and Jasmin Holliday each scored two apiece.

USC had six different players in the scoring column led by LaPlante’s 10 points on a 6-of-6 effort from the free-throw line.

The Trojans also outrebounded Oregon 26-18 in the first half as the Ducks shot just 36.1 percent (13-of-36) from the floor.

The first half saw the teams exchange the lead 13 times as well as seven tie scores.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Heather Oliver and Corral had USC leading 21-17, but Lilley answered by burying two treys of her own to retake the lead 23-21.

Lilley had scored 15 points on 4-of-5 three-point shooting by the 10:50 mark of the first half.

Oregon did run into trouble when Jackson picked up her third foul with 2:59 remaining in first half, and the Ducks ahead 31-29.

Oregon maintained that lead outscoring the Trojans 7-6 to close the first period.

Oregon’s victory ended a four-game slide in the series vs. USC…the win also was Oregon’s first in five tries (including the 2009 Pac-10 Tournament) at the Galen Center…Oregon’s 85 points were the most the Ducks have scored against the Trojans in the all-time series…Oregon had not won at USC in Los Angeles since Feb. 27, 2003…Lilley’s nine three-pointers broke the Oregon single-game record and tied Stanford’s Lindsey Yamaski’s record of nine three-pointers in a Pac-10 game set on Feb. 24, 2001 vs. Washington…Lilley’s 36 points were a new career high… Lilley’s 77 three-pointers in 2009-10 rank second in Oregon single-season history. Jamie Craighead holds the record with 81 set during the 2000-01 season…Oregon, now with 183 three-pointers on the year, needs to make just 12 more from long distance to break the single-season record of 194 set during the 2001-02 season.

The Ducks return to Mac Court for three consecutive games, first hosting Oregon State on Saturday, Feb. 6. The final Civil War game to be played at Mac Court is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip and will be televised by the Oregon Sports Network on Comcast SportsNet Northwest.

Oregon will sponsor National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 6 vs. Oregon State. Fans can purchase one adult general admission ticket, and receive one free general admission ticket for a child.

FORMER DUCK GREATS RETURN TO MAC COURT
Lauri Landerholm will return to Mac Court for the second leg of the Civil War to serve as the game’s honorary captain. Landerholm led the UO to two NCAA Tournament appearances with the Ducks, and during her senior season was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year in 1987. She is one of only two players in Oregon women’s basketball program history to be given the honor. Landerholm was a three-time all-NorPac selection, and still holds the UO program record with 607 assists.
