COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Oregon women's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 17 ranked Ohio State on Sunday morning. The Ducks slide to 5-7 with the loss and the Buckeyes improve to 9-3 with the win.
Oregon and Ohio State played a short match so the Ducks could make their flight back to Eugene in time. After two matches in doubles play decided the winner of the doubles point, the third was not finished and singles began quickly. After Ohio State had won three singles matches and had four points to win the dual, the last two singles matches were stopped.
Oregon had one win, with Pavlina Smatova topping Christina Keesey easily by a score of 6-2, 6-4.
The Ducks will return home to begin conference play next weekend. Oregon will host USC and UCLA on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
