FRESNO, Calif. - The Oregon lacrosse team kicked off Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with an 18-6 victory over Fresno State on Sunday afternoon. The Ducks improve to 5-7 (1-0 MPSF) on the season while the Bulldogs fall to 0-9 (0-2 MPSF).
The Ducks started out incredibly strong, scoring the first eight goals of the game, including two each by Kaitlyn Pasko and Kelly Jablonski. But Fresno State would get on the board, scoring twice before a Celeste Mayer goal gave the Ducks the momentum back before the break, leading 9-2.
In the second half it was more of the same for the Ducks, who scored nine more times after halftime. Catherine Davidson tallied three of her four scores after the intermission, which nearly doubled her season total of five coming into the game. Freshman Ashley Inman also registered her first career collegiate goal with 3:38 left to play. Freshman Ashley Inman scored twice giving her four goals thus far in her rookie campaign.
Bina Barrett had a team-high three assists and Barrett, Davidson and Jana Drummond (two goals, two assists) tied with a team-best four points against the Bulldogs. Salliebeth Finnegan made nine saves in goal, improving her season-total to 91stops which moved her to third all-time in career saves.
Fresno State was led by Amanda Cross' three scores while goalkeeper Katie Wilbur made seven saves.
The Ducks will be back home after five straight road games when they host California and St. Mary's this weekend at Pape' Field. Oregon's battle with the Golden Bears on Friday night will be the only night game at Pape' Field this season. The game begins at 7 p.m. and fans are asked to wear black.
