Fastbreak: Matthew Knight Arena Open House Events
Wednesday, April 7, 2:00 p.m.
If you didn't make it to the open house at Matthew Knight Arena on Tuesday evening, you will have two more opportunities in the coming weeks to get an early look at the inside of the facility.
Yesterday an estimated 1,000 people turned out to the new building, which is being built on the east side of UO’s campus at the corner of Franklin Boulevard and Villard Street. Fans walked down the loading dock tunnel and weaved their way to the arena floor, where they saw the new place taking shape.
Although the arena is not completed, the open house gives fans a glimpse at what will be one of the best college arenas in the country.
A reminder to all who plan on attending: access will only be permitted through the ramp off of Villard Street. Please park in the neighborhood parking (not in local business/restaurant parking).
Due to safety concerns, no one will receive access to the main or upper concourses. Admittance to the arena floor requires the wearing of appropriate footwear (no open-toe shoes, boots preferred). Also, no shorts or dresses will be allowed.
All who participate must sign a waiver before entering the construction zone. Athletic department staff will be on site to answer questions pertaining to the new arena.
