Troy Hill on His Way
Thursday, September 16, 10:30 a.m. PDT

Defensive back Troy Hill, a 2010 signee from St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura, Calif., whose enrollment at UO was held up due to an eligibility issue, had his waiver request granted by the NCAA and will join the Ducks in time to enroll for fall term.

Hill's athletic eligibility became a question after a filing error was uncovered by the UO compliance department, showing he attended high school classes in Youngstown, Ohio, the year before enrolling at St. Bonaventure as a freshman in January 2007.

As a result, his high school eligibility clock officially began in 2005 and should have ended during the spring of '09. The error caused St. Bonaventure to forfeit 11 wins in 2009 along with a league championship.

Hill relocated to California to live with his uncle and start a new path for himself.

The consensus three-star defender will be eligible to practice and play upon his arrival. Classes at the university begin Monday, Sept. 27.
