The Oregon-Duke game set for Nov. 27 at the Rose Garden Arena in Portland marks the first time brothers E.J. (Oregon) and Kyle (Duke) Singler will compete against each other. The two Oregonians were accomplished prep basketball players in their home state, teaming up to lead South Medford High School to back-to-back state title game appearances.

For those of you who don’t know the back story: The two Medford, Ore., products led SMHS to a state championship during the 2006-07 season, when Kyle was a senior and E.J was a sophomore. Just a year before, the Singler brothers led SMHS to a runners-up finish at the state tournament. Below are a couple of prep basketball facts about both Singler brothers.
Led the Panthers to a record of 110-10 over four years … Is the sixth-leading scorer in Oregon state history with 2,207 points … Named 2007 Oregonian Class 6A Co-Player of the Year … Two-time first team all-state selection and two-time Southern Oregon Conference player of the year … Three-time first team All-SOC and first team all-defense pick … Averaged 29.3 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game during his senior season ... led South Medford to the 2007 state championship with 18 points in the 58-54 title game.
Named the 2009 OSAA 6A State Player of the Year after averaging 21.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.0 steals per game... Was also named the 2009 Gatorade Oregon Boys Basketball Player of the Year and the Southwest Conference Player of the Year … Was a first team all-conference and second team all-state selection as a junior … As a sophomore, was a starter on the 2006-07 South Medford squad which won the OSAA Class 6A state title over Lake Oswego … Came off the bench as a freshman (2005-06) to help lead the Panthers to what would be the first of four consecutive state tournament appearances.
