Walker's Pace: XC Duckcast, Hasay Feature
Friday, November 12, 3:15 p.m. PDT
Automatic bids are on the line Saturday at Springfield Country Club, when the top teams from the region compete in the NCAA West Regional meet.
Track Town, USA, official forecaster, Bobby Corser, President of the American Meteorological Society, Portland chapter, put in some overtime to grace us with a pair of Duckcasts for this weekend, one for the football game at Cal, and a special XC version for the West Regional:
The Oregon Ducks' cross country team heads a few miles outside of Eugene on Saturday for the NCAA West Regional meet. They say rain just runs off the back of ducks, and that is a good thing considering rain will most likely be falling for part of the day. Showers will dot the landscape as the morning and afternoon goes along. Temperatures will be in the low 40's when the women take off and the men's race won't be much warmer. A light southwest wind will be blowing into the Mohawk River Valley. Take a rain coat if you are headed up to the see the Ducks in action! Go Ducks!
Spectator parking will be at Mohawk Elementary School on Sunderman Road (off Marcola Road). Free shuttle buses will then transport spectators to the course at the Springfield Country Club. Buses will begin running at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Please allow sufficient time to use the park-and-ride shuttle.
To reach Mohawk Elementary School:
- Take 105E/126E toward Springfield
- Take the 42nd Street/Marcola Road exit and make a left on 42nd street for 0.4 miles.
- Make a right on Marcola Road for 5.5 miles, going 1 mile past the Springfield Country Club.
- Turn right on Sunderman Road.
- Mohawk Elementary School will be on your right after .25 mile.
Signs will be posted on the roads directing traffic to the park-and-ride lot at Mohawk Elementary School.
On another note, Pac-10 women's champion Jordan Hasay was recently profiled by Track & Field News. Here is a link.
Finally, due to popular demand, more pink jerseys from the Bill Dellinger Invitational have been set for auction. There's an Andy Wheating autograph and a women's singlet currently available.
