No. 1 Ducks Gain More Ground

Make it six straight weeks at No. 1 in the AP top 25 and nearly a month - four weeks - atop the BCS Standings for the 2010 Oregon Ducks. For the second straight week, there was no movement among the top seven teams in the only poll that truly matters, with UO (10-0) followed by Auburn (11-0), TCU (11-0), Boise State (10-0), LSU (10-1), Stanford (10-1) and Wisconsin (10-1).

As has also been the case in recent weeks, the Ducks (.9764) continue to gradually widen their margin over the No. 2 Tigers (.9682) in terms of BCS average, climbing .0016 percentage points from .0066 to .0082.

Idle Oregon received one fewer first-place vote in the AP poll, but were still No. 1 on 37 out of 60 ballots. In the two polls that count as part of the BCS formula, the Ducks' gained ground. In the USA Today top 25 (coaches), UO gained two first-place votes from 46 to 48 (out of 59), and the Harris poll saw three voters switching their first-place votes to Oregon (68 out of 114). The USA Today and Harris indexes make up two-thirds of the BCS Standings along with the an average of six computer rankings.

The top two teams in the BCS on Dec. 5 will play for the BCS National Championship January 10, 2011, in Glendale, Ariz.
