EUGENE - The University of Oregon volleyball team capped a busy first week of fall practice with a four-set, inter-squad scrimmage Saturday night at Matthew Knight Arena.

After the 'White' team won the first set in 28-26 tiebreaker fashion, the 'Green' team battled back to win the next three sets by 26-24, 25-19 and 25-22 scores.

For the winning squad, All-America senior outside hitter Alaina Bergsma led all players with her 25 kills, and was the second-leading attacker percentage-wise (.390) behind teammate and junior middle blocker Ariana Williams (.400, 21K).

Senior libero Haley Jacob paced the unit and match in aces (2) and digs (26), and sophomore Shellsy Ashen handled setting duties for all four sets. Also defensively, Bergsma and freshman outside hitter Martenne Bettendorf ended with seven and 14 digs, respectively.

For the 'White' team, returning All-Pac-12 Freshman Team pick and sophomore outside hitter Liz Brenner was equally impressive with her all-around play, and paced the squad in kills (22), digs (19) and aces (1-tied).

Senior outside hitter Katherine Fischer added the match's other double-double with her 17 kills and 18 digs, and topped the latter team in hitting (.260). Junior Lauren Plum handled setting duties and connected on a double-digit kill figure with one other hitter - freshman outside hitter Maddie Magee (13K). Senior defensive specialist Kellie Kawaski racked up 17 digs, and was one of four players on the unit with one ace.

This week, the Ducks look ahead to another busy week of practice leading up to their second exhibition against many of their greatest alumni.

That match, set for Saturday, August 18, will also start at 7 p.m. and offers free admission.

Also on Friday, Duck fans have their first opportunity to order new season ticket packages and individual match tickets.

Fans are encouraged to use the ticket link at the top of the www.GoDucks.com website for all purchases, and can also visit the Duck ticket office or call (1-800-WEB-FOOT) during normal weekday business hours.

Oregon then opens its regular season on the road next week at a pair of tournaments in Columbus, Ohio (Aug. 24-25) and Athens, Ohio (Aug. 31-Sept. 2).

Next month, the Ducks kick off their 12-match home schedule with a pair of non-conference tilts vs. UC Santa Barbara (Wed., September 5) and St. Mary's (Mon., Sept. 10). Both teams sported top-55 RPI national ratings and impressive records last year - UC Santa Barbara (#53, 19-12) and St. Mary's (#55, 17-12).

The remainder of UO's home schedule - all league contests - includes last year's national champion (UCLA), two more NCAA second-round qualifiers (Stanford, Washington), and two other postseason first-round advancers (Arizona, California).
