COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- The Oregon Ducks women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the United States Air Force Academy Invitational Sunday. After several weather delays and rough conditions, the tournament finally concluded and the Ducks came away with some valuable experience.

In today's consolation brackets, sophomore Nicole Long topped Colorado State's Kaley Schulz 1-2, Ret. Senior Lena Macomson lost both of her matches on Sunday as she fell to Colorado's Carla Manzi 6-0, 6-1, and then lost in the next round to CSU's Adriana Wojakowska 6-0,6-0. Julia Metzger was the only other Duck to compete today and she won her only match against Colorado's Winde Janssens 2-6, 7-5, 10-3. More matches were scheduled to be played in the consolation brackets, but the cold and rainy weather prevented them from ever materializing.

"The weather was awful this weekend," said head coach Paul Reber. "It was good to get matches in, but not everybody played today. Kids were sore and banged up, and conditions didn’t allow everyone to play. It was a good tournament for us to start the season. We’re looking forward to getting back to work at home and getting ready for regionals in two week."

The Ducks return to action in two weeks at the ITA Regionals in Palo Alto, Calif.
