CORVALLIS, Ore. - The University of Oregon softball team successfully kicked off its fall exhibition slate with a pair of wins at Oregon State Saturday afternoon.

The returning World Series advancers won both games Saturday by 4-1 and 9-4 counts, with senior All-American Jessica Moore and sophomore Karissa Hovinga taking the wins, respectively.

In the first game, senior outfielder and All-American Samantha Pappas led the Ducks at the plate with a 2-for-4 game and scored two runs. Other notable offensive contributions came from sophomore outfielder Janie Takeda (1-for-3, 1 RBI) and freshman utility player Koral Costa (1-for-1, 1 RBI).

In the second game, Takeda added a 2-for-3 effort with a walk and 2 RBI, and Costa went 2-for-4 with a run and 2 RBI. Moore also boosted the Ducks with a homer among her four plate appearances in the contest.

Looking ahead, UO focuses on the practice field the next two weeks before it stays at home at Howe Field for its last two doubleheaders of the fall. Oregon first welcomes Corban College on Saturday, October 27 10 a.m., then takes on Portland State the next day on Sunday Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

Both home dates will offer free admission to Duck fans and will featured UO's deepest roster - 20 players deep.
