One of the conference’s top hurdlers. Double Pac-10 scorer in the 400 hurdles and the high jump in 2010. Ran the ninth-fastest 400 meter hurdles in school history in his first outdoor race as a Duck. Redshirted the 2007-08 season. Competed for UCLA as a freshman during the 2006-07 season after one of the most prolific prep careers in California state history. The 2006 Gatorade National Athlete of the Year and 2005 and ’06 Gatorade California State Athlete of the Year. A four-time national champion, 12-time prep All-American, 400 hurdles state record holder, and Nike Indoor Nationals pentathlon champion and meet record holder. Pac-10 all-academic first team selection.

2010-11: Pac-10 runner-up in the decathlon. 2nd Team All-America (decathlon). Academic All-America 1st team. Outdoors - Rallied from a tough first day to earn All-America honors with his 16th place finish in the decathlon at the NCAA Championships, scoring 7,469 points. Posted decathlon personal bests in the 400 meters (48.06) and 1,500 meters (4:06.72). Scored 18 team points to help Oregon win its fifth straight Pac-10 title. Opened meet as the runner-up in the decathlon, scoring 7,581 points. That was the 10th-best score in school history.Set six personal bests in that meet, inlcuding the 100 meters (10.88), long jump (24-7.75/7.51m), shot put (36-6.25/11.13m), high jump (6-11/2.11m), discus (115-4/35.16m) and javelin (123-8/37.70m). Also scored team points in the long jump with his third-place finish (24-6.5/7.48m) and his fifth place showing in the 110 meter hurdles (13.97). Played a large role in Oregon's dual meet tie with UCLA by winning the 110 meter hurdles (14.16) and taking second in the long jump (24-3/7.39m). Competing in his first career decathlon at the Mt. SAC Relays, finished fourth with 7,533 points, a total that was just six points shy of the Oregon career top 10. Set numerous personal bests, including 13.82 in the 110 meter hurdles, a time that ranked sixth in school history. Other bests included 10.93 in the 100 meters, 14-5.25/4.40m in the pole vault ad 4:12.50 in the 1,500 meters. Was part of two wins and a third to help Oregon win the Pepsi Team Invitational. Took the 110 meter hurdles in a personal-best 13.97. That time ranked ninth in school history. Also led off the winning 4x400 meter relay team (3:10.93) and took third in the long jump at 24-6.5/7.48m. Ran a personal-best 14.05 in both the preliminaries and the finals of the 110 meter hurdles at the Stanford Invitational. Finished second in the finals. Additionally took the runner-up spot in the high jump (6-9.75/2.08m). Also at Stanford, ran the leag leg on the winning 4x400 meter relay team (3:10.48) and the open 400 (48.86). Opened season in the pole vault and discus at the Oregon Preview. Named an Academic All-America 1st team selection. CoSIDA District 8 All-Academic first team. Pac-10 all-academic first team. Indoors - One of the Ducks' great stories from the NCAA Indoor Championships. In just his second career heptathlon, set four heptathlon PRs to score 5,831 points and finish sixth at the national meet. Score was the second-highest in school history. PRs came in the shot put (350.5/10.68m), high jump (6-11/2.11m), 60 meter hurdles (7.88) and pole vault (13-9.25/4.20m. Time in the hurdles was the fourth fastest in school history. Qualified for the NCAA Championships in his first ever heptathlon, scoring 5,685 points to finish second at the UW Invitational. That was also the second-best heptathlon score in school history. Established a number of personal bests, including 7.01 in the 60 meters, 7.99 in the 60 meter hurdles and 24-4.25/7.42m in the long jump. Timed 48.97 in the 400 meters at the Husky Classic. Ran the lead leg on the winning 4x400 meter relay team (3:10.34) at the MPSF Championships, where he also placed third in the long jump (24-3.5/7.40m). Busy opening weekend at the UW Indoor Preview saw him run 8.07 in the prelinaries of the 60 meter hurdles to make the final, where he placed second in 8.09. 2009-10: Outdoors - Double scorer in the 400 meter hurdles and the high jump to help Oregon win its fourth straight Pac-10 title. Opened season by tying for second in the high jump at 6-9.5 (2.07m) at the Oregon Preview. Upped that to 6-10.25 (2.09m) in a win at the Stanford Invitational. Tied for first with teammate Danny Marconi at 6-9.75 (2.08m) to help Oregon win the Pepsi Team Invitational. Won the high jump versus UCLA with a collegiate best clearance of 7-0.5 (2.15m) to help the Ducks defeat the Bruins in their dual meet. That clearance is tied for seventh all-time at Oregon. Also ran the third leg on Oregon's winning 4x400 meter relay team (3:10.94). Won the 400 meter hurdles at the Oregon Relays in a season-best 51.31. Took the 110 hurdles at the Oregon Twilight in a season-best 14.26. Also high jumped at the Twilight, where he cleared 6-10.75 (2.10m). At the Pac-10 Championships, placed fifth in the 400 hurdles in 51.96 and tied for seventh in the high jump (6-10.25/2.09m). Ran a legal-best 14.36 in the preliminaries of the 110 hurdles. Wrapped up season by making his first appearance in the NCAA West Regional in the 400 hurdles and the high jump. Pac-10 all-academic first team selection. Indoors - Did not compete. 2008-09: Had four races in the 400 meter hurdles and two in the 110 hurdles. In his first outdoor race in an Oregon singlet, ran the ninth-fastest 400 meter hurdle time in school history, 50.75, in a win at the Stanford Invitational. Also won the 400 hurdles at the Pepsi Team Invitational (51.67). Pulled off a double victory in the 110 meter hurdles (14.37) and the 400 hurdles (50.77) to help Oregon defeat UCLA in their dual meet. Ran second in the 110 hurdles at the Oregon Relays (14.55). Finished season with his first ever Pac-10 appearance, where he was slowed by an injury. Ran on winning 4x400 meter relay teams at the Pepsi Team Invitational (3:12.51) and the Oregon Relays (3:10.90). Indoors ran on the 4x400 meter relay team at the MPSF Championships (3:10.40) and the Iowa State NCAA Qualifier (3:09.33). Pac-10 All-Academic first team. Season Bests: Outdoors - 110 Meter Hurdles - 14.37 (PR), UCLA Dual Meet, Eugene, Ore. (4/18/09); 400 Meter Hurdles - 50.75 (PR), Stanford Invitational, Stanford, Calif. (3/27/09).

2007-08: Redshirt season.

Before Oregon: Saw limited action for UCLA indoors and outdoors in 2007. Events included the 110 and 400 hurdles, high jump, long jump and 4x400 meter relay.

Prep: Won the 400 meter hurdles bronze medal in the 2005 World Youth Championships, the same event in which he won the 2006 Junior Olympic title and placed third in the 2006 USA Outdoor Junior Championships. Was tabbed Gatorade California Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year in 2005 and 2006, Track & Field News magazine Boys Athlete of the Year runner-up in 2006 and a USA Today All-American. Also was a 10-time league champion and 16-time All-League honoree. Two-time team captain, three-time team MVP, and six-event school record holder (400 meters, 800 meters, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, high jump, long jump). California state record holder in the 400 meter hurdles and indoor pentathlon. Two-time Arcadia Invitational champion in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles (meet record). Stanford Invitational MVP in 2005 and 2006. Also set Stanford Invitational meet records in the 110 hurdles, 400 hurdles and high jump. 2005 Golden West Champion in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Nike Indoor Nationals pentathlon champion and meet record holder. Nike All-American in 2005. Ranked top-five nationally in the following events - 110 hurdles (2006), 300 hurdles (2006), 400 hurdles (2006), high jump (2005) and pentathlon (2006). High School Bests: 400 Meters - 47.67; 800 Meters - 1:53.1; 110 Hurdles - 13.69; 300 Hurdles - 35.4; 400 Hurdles - 50.34; High Jump - 7-0.75; Long Jump - 24-7.75; Pentathlon - 3,980 points.
