FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What do I bring?
Bring all your training and competition implements, spikes, training shoes, and training apparel. Pole vaulters must bring their own poles.
Overnight Campers: also remember to bring toiletries and a towel. Bedding will be provided.
Q: What skill level is the camp designed for?
Our campers come to camp with a full spectrum of experience and skill levels. From the very first session, our talented staff will identify the needs and goals for each camper -- from beginner to expert, and provide a camp experience ideal for each one.
Q: Will the campers need to bring money?
Only optional spending money. All of the needs of the campers will be provided once they arrive on campus. They will, however, have an opportunity to purchase snacks and Oregon souvenirs if they choose. This is merely an option we provide, and not a necessity for the campers.
Q: This is a co-ed residential camp. Will my son or daughter be safe?
Absolutely. We provide 24 hour supervision for each camper. Boys and girls are housed in separate wings of our dorms and are strictly prohibited from going into the opposite sex areas. Each wing has a security door which requires a staff-only key for entrance. We also have residential staff housed on each floor with the campers. We make the safety and security of each camper our number one priority for our camps.
Q: What can my son or daughter expect to learn at camp?
The 2008 cross country and track and field camps teach all aspects of how to be your best for cross country racing and various sprints, jumps, hurdles, throws and the pole vault. Instruction will include training techniques, nutrition, plyometrics and competition strategies. Sessions are often staged in small groups to encourage personal attention and plenty of feedback for all ages and ability levels.
Q: Who are the instructors?
The mix of instructors/counselors is balanced between extraordinary college and high school coaches and college athletes to encourage a variety of teaching styles.
