Time is Ticking
Thursday, August 28, 3:30 p.m.

With slightly more than 48 hours remaining until Saturday's kickoff, Duck Feed is at a near standstill. There just isn't that much going on other than one more practice in shells today and a walk-through tomorrow. Hopefully, it stays uneventful from a personnel standpoint and Oregon's two-deep remains the same between now and 7:11 p.m. on Saturday night.

I don't believe that the opening kick is sponsored by the famous convenience store like Chicago White Sox baseball games, but that is indeed the actual start time as dictated by Fox Sports Net.

The freshly polished and tested game helmets have arrived back in the EQ and are being tweaked and sized in preparation for the big day.. No word yet on which of the Ducks' 576 uniform combinations they will don. If it was up to me, I'd go with the "Storm Trooper" kits from last year's game in Seattle.

Florida State was voted the best helmet in a recent ESPN poll. As an east coaster myself, I can confirm the massive bias that exists up and down the Atlantic seaboard. I had it too before seeing the Pac-10 in person with my own eyes.

Looks like the improved video screen and scoreboard is completely functional and ready to go. Kenny Wheaton will look as big to the cars driving by on MLK as he did the previous 10-plus years from the Autzen sidelines.

The ad boards will dissolve to reveal a true widescreen for intros, highlights and replays.

Well, it's off to wrangle the media at practice. This is the last day they can interview players before postgame on Saturday night, so I expect a full contingent out in force before the gates close on the private session at 4 p.m.
