Granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA after suffering two seaon-ending injuries during his junior college career.

AS A REDSHIRT SENIOR • 2009
A part-time starter at first base and designated hitter...appeared in 37 games and made 22 starts (18 first base, 4 designated hitter)...hit .212 (18-for-85) with 10 runs scored, six RBIs, eight walks and six hit-by-pitches...had a .995 fielding percentage at first, committing just one error while helping turn 14 double plays...his pinch-hit walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth scored the Ducks game-winning run in their home opener to christen PK Park - a 1-0 victory over defending College World Series champion Fresno State (2/27)...was second on the team batting .360 (9-for-25) with runners in scoring position...also had a .475 success rate advancing runners...was 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI in the Ducks 12-3 win over Santa Clara (3/7)...had a career-high three hits in loss at Nevada (3/15)...helped UO to a 2-1 win over Stanford - the first Pac-10 victory at PK Park - being struck to lead off the second and eventually scoring the game’s first run...drew three walks, an Oregon single-game season high at No. 1 UC Irvine (4/20).

PRIOR TO OREGON
Played the 2008 and 2007 seasons at Tallahassee Community College...transferred to TCC from Pensacola Junior College after receiving an NJCAA medical hardship (2006)...in 2008 set a school record with 39 hit by pitches...in 2007 was a second-team Coaches’ All-Panhandle Conference selection...named to the PC All-Academic Team...batted .309 in 51 games as a freshman.

HIGH SCHOOL
A 2004 graduate of Northview High School in Duluth, Ga...was an all-area, all-county, and all-region selection in his junior and senior seasons...was also the team leader in batting average, runs, stolen bases and fielding percentage both years at NHS...named to the Principal’s List as a junior and senior...selected to the NHS Class of ’04 Who’s Who.

PERSONAL
Born Sept. 2, 1986 in Atlanta, Ga...earned his degree in 2008, but has returned to school to finish his double major in History and Business...parents are Andy and Pat Schmidt...has one sister, Kelly...father played baseball at Ole Miss...cousin, Noah Schmidt, played football at Florida State...belongs to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Political Science National Honor Society...is the baseball program’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative.
