AS A REDSHIRT SENIOR • 2009
Arguably the fastest player on the field, was Oregon’s starting center fielder and leadoff batter the majority of the season...spent his first 22 games in left before making the switch to center...hit .244 (49-for-201) with a team-leading 26 runs scored and 16 stolen bases (tied for 5th Pac-10) and eight hit-by-pitches...also finished the year with 14 RBIs, 15 walks, three triples, two home runs and two doubles...hit .321(27-for-84) in leadoff situations...hit .400 with a runner on third and less than two outs...had a .458 success rate advancing runners...started the season batting a team-best .370 through the first 13 games of the year...during that stretch UO went 6-7 as he scored nine runs and had four RBIs, two triples, seven walks, eight stolen bases and a .482 on-base percentage...also had the club’s longest hitting streak of the year - eight games from March 21-29...hit .406 (13-for-32) during that time with five runs, two RBIs, one home run, a .500 slugging percentage and perfect 4-for-4 effort in stolen bases...recorded the first Oregon hit and scored the first run at Saint Marys (2/20)...in that 5-3 victory was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a walk...against Santa Clara (3/6) became the only UO player in 2009 to triple twice in a game...in Oregon’s 3-2,13-inning victory over Santa Clara (3/7) recorded a single-season high of four hits and scored the game-winning run in the 13th after leading off the inning with a single...hit his first home run off the first pitch of the game in Oregon’s 3-0 victory at Nevada (3/14)...hit his second home run vs. Sacramento State (3/24) - another home run to leadoff the game...scored the game-tying run after singling in the eighth, and scored the game-winning run after leading off the 10th by drawing a walk in the Ducks 3-2, 10-inning victory over Oregon State (3/28)...was 1-for-3 with a walk, RBI and stolen base in Oregon’s 5-3 victory at California (4/18)...scored in the sixth inning after a leadoff single, and scored what proved to be the game-winning run after being hit by a pitch to lead off the eighth in the Ducks’ 3-2 victory over UCLA (5/1).
Appeared in five games during the 2007 football season...in 2006 walked on to the Oregon football team...received scout team special teams player of the week acclaim for weeks leading up to the UCLA and Arizona games.
PRIOR TO OREGON
Attended Oregon State and played on the football scout teams during 2004 and ‘05 seasons...redshirted 2004.
A 2004 graduate of Douglas High School...a four-year prep football letterman earned honorable mention all-state honors (The Oregonian) as a defensive back in 2003 in addition to playing quarterback...also garnered all-Far West League honors on five separate occasions...picked up all-state acclaim in baseball in 2001 through ‘03 as well as twice earning first-team all-conference kudos on the basketball court.
Born Caleb Joshua Tommasini on Nov. 7, 1985 in Tenmile, Ore...parents are Frank and Marge Tommasini... has three brothers; Kevin, Brian, John and three sisters; Faith, Rachel, Sarah... graduated in Winter '09 with a degree in Business Finance.
