PRIOR TO OREGON Spent the 2007 season at the University of Texas before transferring to Oregon.
HIGH SCHOOL A 2006 graduate of Sweeny High School in Texas...was selected as an all-Greater Houston honoree as well as being named team, district and county most valuable player as a senior...posted a 12-3 record, 1.06 ERA and 154 strikeouts during his senior campaign at Sweeny...was Named a District 25-3A Co-Most Valuable Player in 2006 and was ranked No. 24 on Texas Baseball News’ Top 25 list following the 2005 season...also earned first-team All-District 25-3A and first-team all-state honors as a junior after going 9-3 with a 0.82 ERA, fanning 152 over 85.0 innings... averaged 12.5 strikeouts per seven-inning game...doubled as an all-district QB for Sweeny...was named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State football squad as a second team choice.
